Update

It’s official. Mike starts his new job working from home on June 30th.  I’m so happy for him! He’s worked so hard for our family for the last 10 years that we’ve been together, and he truly deserves this amazing opportunity to roll out of bed and go to work in his pj’s. No more long commute, at least not until his fall semester begins, and no more morning rush hour traffic!

He does have to go to Atlanta for a few days though, so that’s not going to be much fun for him since we cannot come with him. You heard right. We’re not going. We don’t have any money right now to make a trip to Atlanta for all 3 of us possible at all. We have to shell out money in advance for a rental car, a hotel for two nights, and every single meal for those two days, not to mention the fact that gas will need to be bought! So imagine the food bill multiplying by 3 and you will see what I mean about us not being able to afford it. Though make no mistake, I’ll be crunching numbers to see if there’s any way at all I can afford to go with him, HA! I’m not sure that’s going to work in my favor though.

In fact, we have to borrow money from my stepdad just to send Mike down there. He’ll get it all expensed of course, but that can take up to two weeks for us to get our money back. Oh, and get this. We have to buy him a suit and some dress shoes and whatnot. A suit, mind you, he’ll never wear again.

So yipee. Two weeks of being flat broke because of this job. It could be worse though. And all I keep thinking to myself is that the first paycheck is going to be super sweet!

  3. you might be able to rent a suit? try mens warehouse – there is one in M’boro (next to panera) across from Target. and good luck to mike!!!! and your checkbook.

  4. hey good idea!

he’s going to his dad’s tomorrow night to borrow a suit if there’s something that fits him well, but if not, then we may try that!

  5. Congratulations to Mike! That is a total blessing and it couldn’t come at a better time what with gas prices being so high.
